Who’s been following our blog and G-Funk.WS label, there’s no need to introduce Laidback Black, the Polish rapper from Poznan. This time around he’s come with his new album “Miasto Słońca I Księżyca“ which translates as “City Of Sun And Moon“. This one is once again produced by RTN, which serves only as a merit of this beautifully composed album. It’s the pure laidback G-Funk to which one can chill to at any season of the year. Besides of Nicole Funk (talkbox) & his “Funkchillaz” crew who appeared on this album, he got his former group “Beat Squad” homies Rafi & Barney appear on this album too.

2019 has just begun and we couldn’t expect a better start for this new year with the release on January 18th of French rapper CenZa LP “Tout droit sorti de Montreuil”.
For all our worldwide G-funk addicts it means Straight Outta Montreuil, a little city next to Paris, and active location since a few years with shows organized regularly by Happy Milf Records.
CenZa is part of the group l’uZine and not new to the game as he has already released 2 other albums in 2007 “Ça vient des bas-fonds” & 2017 “Les Prophéties d’une plume” but with “Tout droit sorti de Montreuil” he brings this time a G-Funk oriented project on the table.
You can clearly hear with the way he gets down on the mic that he is experimented, the flow is modulated in order to hit the beat at the right time. This is what we expect from a real MC. He also handles the production of the funkiest tracks, the rest is done by Beubtwo and TonyToxik.
If you want to have a taste of his sound, hit title n° 5 “Ma Gueule”, a cocktail composed of a smashed beat, funky guitar, talkbox/singed hook…be ready to take a pure dose of gangsta shit ! The combination of the 3 different producers make the level and type of sound not equal during all the lengh of the album but many dope G-funk tracks are present like “Montreuil City G’z”, the Barkays & Ohio players sampled “Menace” or “Prendre la ride”.

Northern California has always been a scene apart from the rest, pushed forward by Woodie (RIP) back in the late 90’s, the artists from this area have always stayed true to tha Funk.
Zone 28 grams is originally from Houston Texas but his project does not make an exception as it is released by the Antioch record label based Cali Life Musik. After dropping interesting releases like the H-Town to the bay compilations, Celly Cell & San Quinn “Bays Water Run Deep” or his “Mob Music”, CEO Cuddy brings here a solid album on the table. Production is handled by another Yoc town resident Kev Knocks, wellknown for his work for Big Tone – Sav It Out Records and in order to assemble all these fine ingredients the legendary K-Lou is on the mix.
This album contains different vibes, tracks like “All Screw Up” or “Nothing but a G thang” with heavy bass and G-Funk whistle will definitely make your head bop and turn up the volume. Female singed chorus “Cut 64 “ is a dope laid back track whereas “the hate is real” or “1 deep” will be enjoyed by all the listeners looking for gangsta shit. Music is at his best when it can motivate and inspire you, “Gotta be a G” with a great singed hook by Missippi is a banger and will make you push it to the limits. Zone keep it real in his lyrics and make you feel the top and down in the life of a G, he doesn’t have a technical flow but it gets along perfectly with the Kev Knocks beats.
One other point to be noticed, in our era of poor commercial rap where most of the beats are produced by a geek and recorded in a bedroom, is the high quality of the Loyalty B4 Betrayal sound. Instrumental, voices and chorus are clear and at the right level, it requires infrastructure and skills, Cuddy has invested in his own studio and brought one of the best producer of all time to mix and master it as the person of K-Lou. So be sure to cop it in CD format in order to enjoy it to the fullest.
A few more tracks would have been welcomed but quality is always better over quantity so this Loyalty B4 Betrayal got a good place in the top 10 of the 2018 G-Funk releases !

If you were following our site & label, you might have noticed that last year we released the previously unreleased 2nd album of NNP – Resurrection (which were recorded back in 1999-2000 but was shelved afterwards). Now, we are proud to announce the re-release of N.N.P.’s classic debut album – Everydaylife$tyle which originally was out on BMG Ariola in 1997. It’s not just some typical reissue but some special Collectors Edition which was made from the Original Master Disc which was sent by the group to the label back then, where there we found 2 special Mixes of “Summer” song & added by “Togetha” Original Remix (found by DJ K.I.P. in his archives but never released before).

Talking about 2018 releases, we are obliged and proud to mention one of the best releases which came from the country where you believe it’s been snowing all time and bears walking the streets. That is not true! Summertime here as hot as anywhere else and g-funk is dope as anywhere. “From Russia With West” is the project that filled with the talented people like Popovski, WazAp, UGN, Ipo Crita, L-Tune, our homie Loco, etc… G Wylx (of Big Black Boots) executively-produced the whole thing as the movement’s veteran with more than 20 years of experience behind his back. Aleks Fima made all beats and they are bumping! It is very solid project from start to finish. Y’all heard projects from Japan, Poland, Italy, France and even more exotic places, now it is time to give this one a try, you can decide for yourself by listening to the whole release by the video in the frame below. Damn, we’ve been waiting for this one to drop from the beginning of the year. Actually, some of us were expecting solo from Rich Garcia since the early-mid 90’s when we first heard him on classic tracks on iconic albums such as Smile Now, Die Later, Stone Cold World, Eastside Drama, etc… The late Toker of Brownside said “he’s my Mexican Nate Dogg” to describe his sound.
The digital release was already out, however the CD release was about to follow, and finally it got dropped on BROWNSIDE13.COM, the official online store of Toker’s Brownside label. We have already got our CD’s in hand and listened to this album banging it to the fullest: it’s the great soul album (flavored by some live guitar and saxophone parts) with some tracks featured by Toker, Wicked, Lil Danger, Lady Jade, Lil Tokes (son of Toker), Chris Gunn & Howard E. Scott.
You can pick up an option if you want a signed CD from a legend himself or just regular CD, it’s up to you. Physical release contains bonus tracks that you won’t find on digital release. All we want is just to let y’all know so you won’t miss this banger, check the videos below:
