Right on the Valentine’s Day, Diggy Down Recordz is coming up with a gift, the album by Jovan Benson, an American singer, songwriter, producer & song arranger from Vallejo, CA. After a year and a half in the making, Jovan finally release his album “Not Made For These Times” as a collection of 17 songs written by him & composed by various producers including Djay Ness D & Goz (of The Touch Funk), Sick-So aka Sovan, Wadz, T-Groove, etc. with 9 songs produced/co-produced by Jovan himself. It’s a perfect album for all the disco/boogie/funk/soul lovers, with nice soulful vocals & well-crafted music.
It’s not the first time that we hear Jovan on Diggy Down: he was previously featured on this label’s releases: Rene Rose – Funky Attitude (2016) & T-Groove – Move Your Body (2017).
After a lil’ break, the French-own Boogie Butt Records label is back with their first modern funk compilation featuring such artists Dee Nasty, Modogsta, Funkmaster Ozone, Parisian Soul, Lord Funk, SNS, Djazzafonk, Will The Funk Boss. Diggy Down Recordz keep bringing us heat non-stop and this time they’re releasing a brand new album of J.Marie, a singer from USA, called “I Want It All” and consisting of 14 hot tracks. This album is J. Marie’s tribute to the 80’s and 90’s music she grew up on with the first song “Boy Toy” bringing back memories of Vanity’s “Nasty Girl.” Maybe some of you remember she was featured with that song on Wadz “So Smooth (The Funk Album)” back in 2010.
Diggy Down Recordz keeps bringing us the heat non-stop & this time they’re back with the album “A dream Come True” by the US-based Soul/RnB/Gospel singer Keith Johnson – to be released shortly on 25.03.2016. Most of the album was produced by Wadz (Fonkfatherz Records, FR) with the remaining songs having production by DJ Ness D (The Touch Funk, FR), Sergio “DOC” Barone (D-Funk Music Productions, DE) and Keith Johnson himself. This album ain’t nothing but heat so ya’ll’d better make sure u don’t miss this funk/soul banger.
The pre-orders have just been started and you may order this CD @ DDR WEBSTORE along with their other releases including that freshly-released PLAY FUNK Maxi Vinyl 45T (limited to 200 copies) which consists of The Touch Funk‘s instrumentals.
For all the funkateers this is the not the release to miss: today is the day for many of us – The Funky Drive Band releases French Kiss’ Craziness EP in vinyl format on Boogie Foxx Records & Tapes. For those who don’t know, this is not the first record by this funk group: 2011 was the year that they released their full length album Dance or Die (which is out of print & a very rare now) and in 2014 they came up with the Maxi 12″ Single – Funky Drive’z Me Crazy.
Unlike Dance or Die LP, which was entirely produced by Kâshif Kroch’, the current project is an introduction of the other composers/producers of the band, Jenny Lord (synth player of the band who composed “Lost Generation” song for the compilation Weird Jam Project), Alan Push (keyboard player of the band) and Omar (bass player of the band).
